Exmouth Cricket Club

Exmouth Cricket Club was founded in 1843 and occupies one of the most idyllic settings in Devon on the edge of the world famous Jurassic Coast looking out over Lyme Bay. Following an extremely successful period in the 1990's when the Club won the Devon League Premier title 8 times, the Ist XI is currently playing in the A Division but with a strong side is now hoping for a quick return to Premier status. The Club plays host to many of Devon County Cricket Club's Minor Counties games as well as to teams from the First Class County game.

The Club entrance is on the seafront off Queen's Drive and the immediate impact on entering the ground is of a large playing area backed by a picturesque Pavilion with its veranda looking out over the Bay against a backdrop of chestnut and other deciduous trees. The Ground can accommodate 18 wickets as well as allowing for a 65 metre boundary while still having the capacity for spectators to drive onto the ground to watch the cricket. The ground drains relatively quickly and matches often proceed on time evem when the weather leading up to the match has been unfavorable.

The Clubhouse is on two floors, the ground floor consisting of changing rooms, showers and separate public toilets. The first floor offers a bar, Committee Room and kitchen as well as a spacious lounge and an outside veranda.

In the north west corner of the ground is the equipment building and scorebox which will soon receive a major electronic make over as well as a modern marquee which regularly provides for cricket teas and other events. To the rear of the marquee is the long standing Tea Hut and Gardens where the public can enjoy a cream tea and other refreshments.

Exmouth Cricket Club has achieved ClubMark status in recognition of its child friendly approach to cricket and now has thriving Colts and Ladies sections as well as 5 other adult teams.
